My Rainy Season Music Playlist

Updated: Jun 4, 2020

Hello, there! It has been a while since the last blog post, lots of things that came up recently took most of my time therefore I missed blogging so much :( Well, it's been 2019 and January is coming to an end, but I guess it is not too late to say "Happy New Year"! I hope you will achieve more success with your passion and don't forget to prepare yourself with the wet season. Talking about rain, sometimes it falls cats and dogs, windy and thundery. At another time, it rains drizzling as fine as an icing sugar, calming and refreshing, though it sometimes surprises you when black clouds don't fill the sky and before long the downpours begins. Still rainy season is my favourite here especially after having a rough dry season. But lately, I realise how much I am missing the UK weather whenever I see grey skies.

THE BRITISH WEATHER: FOUR-SEASON IN A DAY

The British weather is often associated with rain and it is very unpredictable. Though it is a four-season country, the rain might come at anytime with grey sky covering the days. Like in a day I could wake up with a beautiful sunshine and a warm sunlight touched my skin, but in the afternoon the skies was covered with dark clouds, a strong wind and drizzling rain. Since it may change hour by hour and day by day, the British weather is distinct to other countries. I had to check the weather forecast for several times in the morning whenever I planned something only to prepare (at least) my outfit, but sometimes there was no point in looking at the forecast, so planning seemed difficult. One day in February, I climbed the Bamford Edge in Peak District with my friend who came a long way from Manchester. Yeah I knew it was winter, but it's the UK weather anyway so I just prepared myself with several layers for clothing, a backpack, a camera then picked up my friend in a train station and ready to hike! It was a bright day in the morning, so we were quite happy and excited. As we arrived to the main road after taking a bus for half an hour, the weather turned into cloudy :D and since the Google Maps doesn't tell us how to get exactly there, we just kept moving to find the route to reach the top. Anyway, we got lost and followed a different trails from which it should be. A relaxing walk turned into a struggle because we passed through an uphill and steep path plus a light rain and blustering winds hit us.  It wasn't a bad idea at all once I got to the peak of an overhang of gritstone rocks, the sky turned into sunny though it's super windy up there. We took our time to enjoy the breathtaking views of a Ladybower reservoir and Derwent valley. The clear sky lasted only about 30 minutes 'til it became dark again and even much colder, so after taking some pictures, we decided to make our way back down. So yeah, I guess 'four-season in a day' is the best situation to describe the UK weather :)

One of the trail that looks scary :))

I was taking a moment to enjoy the view :)

This what makes it worth, the stunning view of reservoir and the valley

Anyway, It's cold and dark for most of the seasons but rarely extreme, it just change quickly :)) especially December to February are the coldest month with freezing temperature, icy nights and (if you are lucky) you can experience snow. Though so, in some days I still might get warm sunshine between those months. I often grumbled about the Britain's gloomy weather and the swings since it could easily affect my mood. I would be happier when the sun brightly shone (you have no idea how much I appreciated the sunlight!) and I felt somewhat down when grey clouds appeared in the sky. Unfortunately, my life was often dominated with dark moods because of the gloomy weather emerged in any seasons, but it doesn't mean I feel blue for most of the time coz I was getting used to and pretty much enjoyed it. Therefore, instead of complaining about the situation that I couldn't change, I preferred to endure it by listening to a calming folk/indie/acoustic songs from my favourite artists that suits the melancholy.

MY RAINY SEASON MUSIC PLAYLIST

I live in a tropical country which is hot and humid most of the year with a downpour during the wet season, so I can't compare the weather between my country with Britain because it is strikingly different. I experience a gloominess during the monsoon that lasts between October to April but you know, the climate change affect us to get a longer dry season with an extremely hot weather recently. Unlike in the UK, I always expect to get more rainfall than a sunlight here :D So anyway, I am talking about the dark sky, rains and melancholy that remind me of the British weather. The best solitary moment to enjoy a cup of tea with soothing music, a petrichor, sounds of the raindrops, and freshness of the air after the dust and dryness were washed off by the rain. So, here are some of the best songs that I played during the monsoon months based on my musical preference on folk/indie music :

Please don't feel bad about the rain, just take your time to enjoy it and feel how it refreshes your life! Sit back, play the music and relax :) God bless your eyes and ears!

Stay safe xx
